Arsenal Predicted Starters To Face Everton
After being knocked out of 2 cups in 3 days, Arsenal face Everton in the EPL. Will they be able to take all three points to stay alive in the title race?
In the space of just three days, Arsenal have crashed out of two competitions in the FA Cup and the Champions League. Their defeat to Watford on Sunday was a little bit more inexplicable than their rather predictable loss at the hands of Barcelona in the round of 16.
Now, any success that Arsenal may have this season hinges on the Premier League, but even that is looking bleak, and it isn’t about to get any easier for them. Up next is a trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton, who have had some lucky results against Arsenal in recent times.
The Gunners will not appreciate having to going up against a tough opponent given their run of poor form, and against which they barely scraped past back in October. Arsene Wenger will likely field a similar squad to the one that lost to Barcelona. Even though they lost 3-1, the Gunners’ performance was not entirely reflective of the scoreline.
In hindsight, Arsenal played quite well, and they will need to put in another inspired performance against Everton if they want to salvage anything from their dwindling title hopes.
Here’s how Arsenal will likely lineup at Goodison Park on Saturday.
David Ospina
13, Colombia

Stand in keeper David Ospina continues to impress in the absence of Petr Cech. I think we can all agree that the Colombian has single-handedly been keeping Arsenal in games as of late by making key saves.
Let’s face it- Hector Bellerin had a nightmare of a game against Barcelona. In fact, he was probably Arsenal’s worst player on the night, losing battle after battle on that right hand flank. However, the Spaniard rarely strings together two bad performances in a row, so I expect to bounce back against Everton.Hector Bellerin

Per Mertesacker is needed back in the squad after Gabriel’s not so solid performance against Barcelona. There has been much rotation in that area of the pitch this season by Arsene Wenger, but the fact of the matter is that the Mertesacker-Koscielny partnership remains Arsenal’s best pairing at centre-back.Per Mertesacker

Laurent Koscielny looked shaky in his performance in midweek, but that won’t deter him from his usually solid defensive play in the Premier League. Will have a huge task in neutralizing the threat of an in-form Romelu Lukaku on Saturday.Laurent Koscileny

Over two legs, Nacho Monreal did an overall respectable job of keeping Messi at bay out on the left hand side of the pitch. So naturally, Aaron Lennon should be a cake walk, right?Nacho Monreal

Honestly speaking, Francis Coquelin did not have much of an effect over two legs against Barcelona. He wasn’t able to break up the Catalans’ play as well as we know he can, but then, that was always a tough ask given Barca’s style of play. Everton are not as intricate in the centre of pitch, so Coquelin will prove to be more effective in this game compared to the last.Francis Coquelin

For me, Mohamed Elneny was Arsenal’s MOTM against Barcelona. Not only did he score Arsenal’s only goal (and a cracking one at that), but he was all over the pitch, as he should be. He’s looking worth every bit of his transfer fee, and will not likely lineup alongside Coquelin again in defensive midfield.Mohamed Elneny

Joel Campbell has shown time and time again that he is able to provide an offensive spark for Arsenal in the few times he has been in the starting XI. Given their struggle to score in the Premier League this season, Campbell needs to get them going again, starting with Everton on Saturday.Joel Campbell

No one really knows what is going on with Alexis Sanchez this season, but Arsenal desperately need goals, and thus need him to get going in this crucial game.Alexis Sanchez
17, Chile
Like Ospina, Mesut Ozil has been carrying this team as of late. He will provide the chances against Everton as he has all season, but it may go to waste a long as his strikers continue to not be clinical in front of net.Mesut Ozil

Same deal as Alexis. Arsenal cannot expect to win if their first choice striker isn’t scoring. Olivier Giroud needs to start finding the back of the net if Arsenal want to salvage this season.Olivier Giroud
