I think it says a lot about the things people who know nothing about football can’t appreciate. Any idiot can see Giroud got his head to the ball and scored, most of those can work out that Ozil crossed it, but none of them understand the main contribution Ozil makes of quietly and efficiently turning up at the right time and in the right place to sort out a problem (before it occurs) with a simple touch and short pass.

That is extremely well said. He sets up the winning goal and is pilloried for nonsense, while Giroud gets his head on the ball and is man of the match. Its a sick joke.

“Mesut Ozil was totally absent until the dying moments of the game”

Ozil had 133 touches of the ball, more than any other player apart from Xhaka, and as many as Gibbs and Bellerin put together.

Given the accuracy of your opinion when tested against the facts, I think the value of this idiotic slur is obvious: “when times were getting tough he looked like a spoilt child, who was annoyed the opposing team wasn’t making it easier for him” seems a more accurate description of a blogger desperate to drum up controversy somehow or other than of Ozil, who was excellent in a game that showcased his ability.
