Arsenal makes the trip to Molineux on Saturday night as Mikel Arteta’s side looks to bounce back from their Carabao Cup exit midweek at the hands of Brighton.
In what is the last league game before the Premier League halts for the World Cup, Arsenal have 90 minutes to navigate. After a superb start to their league campaign, the Gunners have a chance for a perfect send-off against Wolves.
Sitting top for the duration of the World Cup is some carrot dangling in front of Arsenal as they can solidify their great start to the campaign with their 12th win from 14 games.
Wolves vs Arsenal: 3 things to look out for in final game before World Cup
Here are three things to look out for in Arsenal’s final game before the 2022 World Cup away at Wolves.
1. The bounce back
No loss is ever good, and for Arsenal, having lost just three games in all competitions so far, each defeat has been remedied straight away. After each defeat, the Gunners have won at least the next three games.
Against a Wolves team sitting 19th, having won just two games this league season, it is a great chance to end the first section of the league season with a win.
But will Arsenal, who have played an absurd number of games in quick succession, have anything left in the tank?

2. Can Gabriel Jesus break his scoring drought?

Against a defence that has conceded 22 goals this season (only seven teams have shipped in more), can our number nine finally break his goalscoring drought against Wolves? It hasn’t been for lack of trying, <a title="Gabriel Jesus: Why his goal record is not an issue" href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/11/12/wolves-vs-arsenal-3-things-look-final-game-world-cup/"https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/11/08/gabriel-jesus-goal-drought-not-issue/" rel="">but things just haven’t fallen for the Brazilian over the past month.

With no goals in his last five league games and none in five Europa League appearances (nine consecutive games without a goal), Jesus is in a good old-fashioned drought. While he is still contributing to the team in terms of work rate and assists, we want those goals back.

Saturday night is the perfect chance.

3. Top of the table at Christmas – win the league?

That is what is facing Mikel Arteta’s side should they win on Saturday; a nice piece of potential history. Since the 2010/11 season, eight out of 11 times the team top at Christmas has gone on to lift the Premier League trophy.

Since the inception of the Premier League, 73% of the time, the team that is top at Christmas wins the title. That is a healthy bit of incentive for the Gunners against Wolves.
<!—pageview_candidate—>">
