Defenders
Cedric: SELL – The veteran right-back has already said he wants to fight for his place in Arteta’s first team and there’s no doubt the Spaniard values the Portuguese defender as a dressing-room leader. However, Cedric won’t get anywhere near notching serious minutes next season and it’d make sense for all parties to part ways. A permanent exit may be tricky, though, given his age and contract situation.
Nuno Tavares: SELL – Tavares dazzled in spells during his time at Marseille, but he also produced some bone-headed moments. There’s no way Arteta views him as an option moving forward, but he could be sold for a profit this summer.
Pablo Mari: OBLIGATION – After Monza comfortably retained their Serie A status, the Italian club are expected to purchase Pablo Mari outright for £6m.
Aaron Trusty: SELL – Arsenal signed Trusty in January 2022 for a modest fee and they could look to cash in on the defender after he enjoyed a standout campaign with Birmingham where he was named the club’s Player of the Year.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles: LET GO – It was confirmed back in April that the Hale End graduate will leave the club following the expiration of his current deal.
