Arsenal defeated Manchester United in a thrilling Premier League encounter. An Eddie Nketiah double and a Bukayo Saka wonder strike gave the Gunners a vital three points.
Mikel Arteta named an unchanged side from the one that swept aside Tottenham last time out as new signing Leandro Trossard was named on the bench.
Arsenal started the better side, but United took the early lead. Marcus Rashford skipped past Thomas Partey and unleashed an unstoppable shot from outside the box.
The hosts weren’t behind for long, though, as just six minutes later, Nketiah headed home from close range. A superb cross from Granit Xhaka found the striker at the back post, and the Englishman attacked the ball superbly.
The Gunners took their first lead just seven minutes into the second half when Saka picked up the ball outside the box, cut inside Christian Eriksen, and unleashed an unstoppable shot past David De Gea.
United were level just minutes later, however, as Lisandro Martinez capitalised on Aaron Ramsdale’s horror attempt at collecting the corner. Nketiah then won it at the death for the Gunners after some good build-up play from Oleksandr Zinchenko and Trossard. Nketiah was found – rather fortuitously – and he poked home from close range with just a minute of normal time remaining to send the Emirates into raptures.
Arsenal 3-2 Man Utd: 3 talking points as Nketiah dazzles in huge win
The game provided plenty of talking points, here they are.
1. Arsenal get revenge
United remain the only Premier League team to defeat Mikel Arteta’s side this season, and that was a common thread to pull for the players this week.
They say revenge is a dish best served cold, but the Emirates was rocking after Nketiah’s last-minute winner. It moves Arsenal now 11 points clear of United with a game in hand. In a title race, you have to win these games, and the Gunners did so.

2. Nketiah continues Emirates scoring spree

The young striker has filled in superbly well for the injured Gabriel Jesus. Nketiah again found the back of the net twice, giving him 13 goals in 13 games he’s started at the Emirates.

He has led the line well, and his closing down is similar to that of Jesus. With his goals against United, Nketiah now has 19 goals in 26 games and also joins Martin Odegaard as the Gunners’ leading scorer in all competitions.

He’s the real deal.

3. Trossard debuts at the Emirates

The Belgian got his first taste of football at the Emirates as an Arsenal player and immediately showed what he can bring to the team. Coming on for Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard buzzed about the pitch with energy.

His quick feet and ability to wriggle out of tight spaces saw him play a part in Nketiah’s late goal. His quality off the bench will be needed far more down the line, and he played his role in keeping the Gunners’ impressive lead at the summit.
<!—pageview_candidate—>">
