Arsenal face their third and final match of February as they host Wolves at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday for their second meeting in two weeks. Here is the match preview.
There were highs from the previous matchweek where all the Gunners’ rivals dropped crucial points in the title race, whereas the recent week produced vastly differing outcomes. All that Mikel Arteta’s side can control is their own matches, therefore it was mightily important that they beat Brentford.
Manchester United fended off a Leeds comeback to win 4-2 away, Leicester suffered defeat away at Wolves, and Tottenham did what Tottenham do far too often by beating Manchester City.
In the grand scheme of things it effectively acts as if everyone took one equal step closer to the top four positions. But it’s still tougher to take than we’d like. It’s impossible not intently watching on at what the rest of the chasing pack are up to.

Well, one of that very same chasing pack are next up on the agenda as Bruno Lage’s side head to north London seeking revenge as well as their second win in this part of the capital this season.
An interesting set of circumstances will see the two teams face off in the Premier League twice inside a fortnight, setting up an interesting dynamic: do you repeat what you did previously and hope to just do it better? Or is there is a different gameplan to follow considering the home advantage has swapped over?
What is known is that a win for either would be huge for their respective Champions League aims. Wolves clawed their way back into the hunt with victories over Spurs and Leicester. Lage’s side are just two points off Arsenal in seventh position, although they have played one more game than them.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have the chance to move to within one point of Manchester United in fourth and still have full two games in hand on the Red Devils.
It’s awful being Games In Hand FC. You’d always rather the physical points on the board as opposed to dealing in hypotheticals.
Best go out and win then, right? It’s set up for a mouth watering clash.

<h2>Arsenal Team News vs Wolves – Gabriel Martinelli To Miss Out?</h2>
<p>The previous outing against Brentford saw the welcome return of Emile Smith Rowe to the starting lineup, with the forward having struggled for minutes on account of Gabriel Martinelli’s fine form out on the left.</p>
<p>With the Brazilian serving a one-match suspension for his red card in the reverse meeting against Wolves, <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/02/22/arsenal-wolves-epl-preview-news-team/"https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/02/21/arteta-fascinating-arsenal-hint-striker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the goalscoring exploits</a> of the No. 10 make for an interesting and welcome dilemma for Arteta.</p>
<p>That’s because everyone is fit and firing.</p>
<p>Takehiro Tomiyasu was the only injury concern yet he was fit enough for the bench and is in line to start – although Cedric’s form has been impressive – which means that barring any late hiccups in training the manager has a full fit squad to choose from.</p>
<p>As for Thursday’s visitors they find themselves in a similar position having welcomed back long-term absentee Pedro Neto in their win over Leicester. The 21-year-old forward had missed over 300 days of action with a serious knee injury.</p>
<p>Elsewhere, Joao Moutinho has also recovered from injury, Jonny and Hwang Hee-chan are back fully fit, and both Yerson Mosquera and Willy Boly have returned from their own setbacks.</p>

<h2>Arsenal Predicted Lineup to Face Wolves – Smith Rowe and Lacazette Stay in?</h2>
<p><strong>Arsenal:</strong> Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Xhaka, Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Lacazette</p>
<p><strong>Wolves:</strong> Sa; Kilman, Coady, Saiss; Semedo, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Ait-Nouri; Jimenez, Podence</p>
<h2>Arsenal vs Wolves Score Prediction</h2>
<p>It was frustrating to see Wolves pick up more points in their most recent outing, not because they blew Leicester away comfortably, but instead quite the opposite. Limited to 36% possession and scoring with two of their three shots on target, which all came from outside the box, the Foxes will feel aggrieved to have lost the match.</p>
<p>The sign of a good team is when they wins without playing well though, right?</p>
<p>What the main focus should be on is that Arsenal were the better side between these two when they met just two weeks ago. The red card changed the game on the day as prior to that it was Arteta’s side who had a deserved lead.</p>
<p>On home soil Arsenal will be even more confident. There was a swagger to their play against Brentford and, if anything, the Bees might play in a similar(ish) way to Wolves with a back three that has full-backs tucking in to create a back five and a congested midfield squeezing spaces centrally.</p>
<p>With the Gunners excellent record at the Emirates Stadium this season – the third best in the division – nothing other than three points should suffice. Prior to this trio of February matches taking place most would have accepted the offer of seven points, but now the first two are down it has to be seen as a nine-point haul.</p>
<p>There were positive signs against Brentford, with match sharpness building collectively and individually, and even with Wolves’ own threats this is a match the hosts should be confident about claiming all the spoils from…and then <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/02/22/arsenal-wolves-epl-preview-news-team/"https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/02/12/everyone-still-hates-arsenal-love/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">celebrate wildly about</a>.</p>
<p>Only just, mind you.</p>
