The FPL opened its doors to another season of thrills and spills last week with users now able to make their first drafts – and choose the wittiest of team names – ahead of Gameweek 1 which is less than a month away.
Exciting, I know.
Arsenal’s ‘woes’ over the past few years mean the vast majority of their players haven’t been protagonists in the fantastical realm of the sport. Not since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was scoring goals for fun, anyway.
But the Gunners are on an upward trajectory under Mikel Arteta, and they impressed from both a defensive and attacking perspective at various points last season with several of their young stars enjoying productive campaigns.
Their ascent is expected to continue into 2022/23 which may entice some FPL users into exploring Arsenal as a means of conjuring up their ideal starting XI to begin the campaign.
4 Arsenal players you must pick in your 2022/23 FPL team
Here are four (we’re well aware that the maximum you can pick from one club is three) Arsenal players you should consider picking in your starting 2022/23 FPL team.
1. Takehiro Tomiyasu (Defender – £4.5m)

Tomiyasu’s debut season in north London was laden with promise, but injury struggles meant he was limited to just 21 Premier League appearances.
Thus, it’s no surprise that, following a 75-point FPL haul, his value has been retained at £4.5m.
And while the stout defender’s injury woes may deter some users, the Japanese international proved last season that he could be a brilliant low-cost option should he stay fit.
Tomiyasu’s not going to offer much from an attacking sense given his specialist role in Mikel Arteta’s side, but he helped the Gunners to nine clean sheets last term and he was only booked once.
The former Bologna defender is disciplined, resilient and is a sure bet to feature in Arteta’s XI when fit. Cedric Soares is a comfortable second-in-command and the Gunners aren’t set to bolster the right-back position this summer.
Benjamin White is another intriguing possibility at £4.5m, but he’s expected to face stiff competition for his spot in the team from William Saliba. However, White could be a great option to kick off the campaign.

Emile Smith Rowe</a> for minutes down the Gunners’ left.</p>
<p>Martinelli enjoyed his most productive Premier League campaign yet last season, notching 13 goal contributions on his way to a 110-point FPL haul. However, he must develop some consistency. Many of those contributions came in destructive bursts.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, many are backing the Brazilian to build on his 2021/22 campaign which means that he could be a useful option for FPL users at £6.0m. Martinelli is an excellent ball-striker, and there’s no doubting that his output could soar once again next season.</p>
<p>Compared to others in his price range – a list that includes Rodri, Jorginho, Lucas Moura, and Joelinton – Martinelli, along with Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, appear to be the most valuable options.</p>

<p>I know it was a mere friendly, BUT <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/07/14/4-arsenal-players-you-must-pick-in-your-2022-23-fpl-team/"https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/07/09/4-positives-arsenal-defeat-fc-nurnberg/">DID YOU SEE GABRIEL JESUS AGAINST NURNBERG</a>?! WE’RE WINNING IT ALL!</p>
<p>The Brazilian produced a stellar 45-minute cameo in Germany; one so efficient and exuberant that Gooners simply cannot wait to see him in action once again. He has the potential to single-handily transform the Gunners’ attack.</p>
<p>While Jesus has garnered criticisms for his sub-par ball striking, the versatile forward is masterful in the box. He’s always in the right place at the right time, and that’s why he scored at such a proficient rate up in Manchester. <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2022/07/14/4-arsenal-players-you-must-pick-in-your-2022-23-fpl-team/"https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/12633241/gabriel-jesus-to-arsenal-will-the-manchester-city-striker-thrive-with-more-regular-playing-time" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jesus’ 160 minutes-per-goal ratio is the seventh-best in the Premier League </a>(min. 15 appearances) since he joined City.</p>
<p>Consistent starting opportunities will undoubtedly aid his rhythm in front of goal, and while Jesus may not be able to forge a Golden Boot charge, there’s no reason why he can’t score at least 15 times in the league next season. The Brazilian has also 35 Premier League assists in five-and-a-half seasons.</p>
<p>Should he stay injury-free, Jesus should enjoy a hugely productive debut season in north London. In five full seasons with City, the Brazilian registered four 100+ point FPL campaigns with his highest (146 points) arriving during the 2019/20 season. He’ll surely top that if he plays the vast majority of Arsenal’s games next season.</p>

<p>Thus, at £8.0m, Jesus certainly looks like the best option among the second-tier forwards. He could quickly see his value rise.</p><!—pageview_candidate—>">
