Midfielders
Xhaka (CM) 6.5 – The Swiss international was hardly noticeable in the Gunners midfield, but he wasn’t alone. Failed to get into the game.
Partey (CM) 6.5 – Did his bit in the heart of Arsenal’s midfield, but as was often the case, ran out of ideas in the final third as Brentford’s shape and structure forced him into other avenues.
Odegaard (CAM) 7.0 – The skipper was pulling the strings for his side, but often to no avail. Tried to get his team going and was busy in and around the box.

Brentford weren’t behind for long as the visitors leveled matters after a scrappy goal-mouth passage after Arsenal was unable to clear its lines. Toney was jogging on the spot to head home from close range.

Arsenal was again left frustrated as the visitors held on for a vital point and left the Gunners winless in three consecutive games, with Manchester City up next.

Player ratings from a frustrating afternoon at the Emirates.

Goalkeepers and Defenders

Ramsdale (GK) 6.5 – Kept Arsenal in the game in the first half with a few good saves. Brentford’s scrappy goal will not please the Gunners’ keeper.

White (RB) 6.0 – He got forward several times and overlapped with Saka for fun but just couldn’t find the final ball.

Saliba (CB) 6.5 – Struggled to deal with Toney’s physicality in the first half as the striker caused all sorts of problems.

Gabriel (CB) 6.5 – Got away with a slip-up early on that saw Bryan Mbeumo score, but a foul was given. Had a difficult day.

Zinchenko (LB) 6.5 – As usual, buzzed around the pitch, dictating the flow for the Gunners, often cut inside to receive the ball, but like his teammates, ran into a brick wall in the final third.

Forwards

Saka (RW) 6.5– A tough afternoon for Saka, but he produced a moment of magic to find Trossard for the game’s first goal, but otherwise, a frustrating afternoon.

Martinelli (LW) 5.5 – The Brazilian just couldn’t get into the game. He was not his usual energetic self and was replaced by Trossard with half an hour left. Not his best outing.

Nketiah (ST) 6.5 – The striker did well against a stout Brentford defense but often needed to lay the ball off to a teammate. Not his best, but not his worst outing either.

Substitutes

Trossard 7.0 – Came on for Martinelli and made an immediate impact, scoring the game’s opening goal. A bundle of energy from his first touch.

Vieira 6.0 – Came on late and failed to make a meaningful impact.
<!—pageview_candidate—>">
