2. Gunners get front-row seat to Caicedo show
Arsenal got a glimpse of what they could potentially expect next season if Caicedo joins from Brighton. While he was played out of position (at RB), the midfielder naturally drifted inside and was a constant problem.
His stat line makes for sensational viewing as he won the most duels (14), made the most tackles (five), had 67 touches, won the most fouls (five) and won possession five times.
For many, it is either Declan Rice or Caicedo and after this performance, the Brighton star has clearly closed the gap.

Three second-half goals from Brighton put a firm full stop on any lingering hopes of Arsenal usurping City in devastating fashion.

It was a brutal way for the title race to end as City now need just two points (due to their vastly superior goal difference) from three games to be crowned champions as Arsenal gave everything, but it wasn’t enough.

Arsenal 0-3 Brighton: 3 talking points as Seagulls dismantle Gunners

The game provided plenty of talking points; here they are.

1. Gunners fall short in a devastating manner

After City’s 3-0 demolition of Everton prior to the start of Arsenal’s game, many could feel the air get sucked out of the Emirates pre-game. Such was the thought that the Toffees could get something from the contest, the fact it was a cakewalk for City was disheartening.

Credit to Brighton, however. After an evenly-matched first half, the visitors puffed out their chest in the second period and put Arsenal to the sword, scoring three goals.

It wasn’t the afternoon many had envisioned, and it revealed what many had suspected for the last few weeks. It is now City’s title.

3. Reliance on Zinchenko is troubling

This is no dig at Kieran Tierney, but when Oleksandr Zinchenko is out of the side, the Gunners are a completely different team.

Let’s not get it twisted, we aren’t saying Tierney has to be Zinchenko, but the Gunners’ reliance on the Ukrainian is troublesome.

While Tierney is by far the better defender, it is going forward where Arsenal need more potency along with control in midfield. Tierney doesn’t give the Gunners either against Brighton and it showed up the Gunners over-reliance on the former City man.
<!—pageview_candidate—>">
