2. Team cohesion
In recent months a false narrative has begun to take hold of the footballing world’s airwaves. Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag said in a press conference that Arsenal always have their first 11 available and that is the reason for their success this season. This is simply an untruth.
Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus, Zinchenko, Eddie Nketiah, and William Saliba have all sustained significant injuries.
The tactical brilliance and understanding of the Gunners are what have perpetuated their dominance this term. When Jesus went down in the World Cup, Nketiah subsequently stepped up. Trossard and Martinelli have since performed superbly in Nketiah’s absence. Now, most importantly, Rob Holding is filling the boots of Saliba at centre-back. Arteta has raved about his recent performances not only for his technical work but his excellent ability to plug in and maintain the level and style of Arsenal’s play.
Each member of the squad knows their role once they’re on the pitch. With a tricky month ahead, the likes of Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson could be more important than ever.
