2. Samuel Chukwueze
Arsenal have been connected with Samuel Chukwueze since the player was 16 years old, and the rumours haven’t slowed down much since. Unlike the fees being mentioned for Diaby, Chukwueze may be available for €40m this summer. He has broken out this year, with six goals and five assists across 27 La Liga appearances for Villareal so far this season. Another left-footed right-winger with pace that likes to cut in, Chukwueze fits the profile for what Arteta seems to value in his wingers.
His ability as a dribbler is unquestionable, ranking in the 93rd percentile in progressive carries and 99th percentile in successful take-ons for his position. His ability as a passer and defensive contributor are not nearly as impressive, as he ranks below average in both.
His signature won’t be easy to secure, with rumoured interest from Real Madrid boss Florentino Perez. Despite that, look for Arsenal to continue to pursue a player that they’ve been interested in for over six years.

Compared to other players in his position, he ranks in the 88th percentile in non-penalty expected goals, 79th percentile in non-penalty goals, 86th percentile in expected assisted goals and 92nd percentile in non-penalty expected goals + assisted goals.

The main issue with this transfer will be the transfer fee. He is under contract <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/04/18/3-wingers-arsenal-should-target-this-summer/2/"https://www.transfermarkt.us/moussa-diaby/profil/spieler/395516">until 2025 and Bayer Leverkusen will only sell for a <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/04/18/3-wingers-arsenal-should-target-this-summer/2/"https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/12788749/moussa-diaby-arsenal-make-contact-with-bayer-leverkusen-over-possible-transfer-for-france-winger#:~:text=Arsenal%20have%20made%20initial%20contact%20with%20Bayer%20Leverkusen%20over%20French,until%20the%20summer%20of%202025.">significant transfer fee, reportedly quoting interested clubs €100m for the player this summer. There’s also the concern of whether or not Diaby would be happy not starting every game like he has become used to in Germany. Nonetheless, it’s not difficult to see how he could fit in at Arsenal, and he is certainly one to watch for this summer.

3. Michael Olise

Perhaps the most familiar name to Arsenal fans, Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has enjoyed another solid season in the Premier League. He has two goals and eight assists in 29 appearances <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/04/18/3-wingers-arsenal-should-target-this-summer/2/"https://www.whoscored.com/Players/371281/History/Michael-Olise">this term after contributing two goals and five assists in 26 Premier League appearances last season. He has mostly been used as a right-winger at Selhurst Park, but has also seen time in the middle of the park as an advanced central midfielder. We know that Arteta values versatile players, and Olise certainly fits that description.

<a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/04/18/3-wingers-arsenal-should-target-this-summer/2/"https://fbref.com/en/players/c4486bac/Michael-Olise">For his position, he ranks in the 89th percentile in tackles and interceptions, as well as the 81st percentile in successful take-ons. While he leaves something to be desired in terms of his finishing ability, he doesn’t turn 22 until December and excels as a dribbler and creator as well as being an excellent defensive contributor for his position.

According to <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/04/18/3-wingers-arsenal-should-target-this-summer/2/"https://dailycannon.com/2023/04/arsenal-olise-palace/">Daily Cannon, Arsenal view Olise as the ideal backup to Saka. Crystal Palace likely look at Olise as one of their building blocks for the future, so any move for him would likely require a significant transfer fee.
<!—pageview_candidate—>">
