3. Reiss Nelson
It’s no secret that Gabriel Martinelli deservedly has first dibs on the left-wing position in Arteta’s lineup. However, Reis Nelson needs to make an appearance in the next game. Arsenal fans don’t see enough of him.
Nelson is what Arteta dreamt of when renaming the substitutes to impacters. Let us not forget the 97th-minute wonder goal he rocketed home against Bournemouth last season. In another crunch-time scenario, this time against United, Reiss won the 50/50 challenge to set up the break for Jesus’ spectacular finish. If not a start, Nelson deserves more minutes off the bench next game and should look to be starting in other competitions outside of the Premier League.
Arsenal’s campaign has not started in the way many fans hoped. Despite accruing ten points from a possible twelve, the opposition and Gooners sense vulnerability in the Arsenal lineup. Pursuing the Premier League remains a palpable goal, but Manchester City remain in front by what feels like more than a margin of two points.

1. Gabriel

Although the centre-back role has become slightly more glamorous in recent years, with more teams relying on ball-playing defenders to build the attack and control games, the forward positions are usually the most discussed.

Gabriel may have produced one of the most intelligent defensive sequences in recent Premier League history when he jumped up and ensured Alejandro Garnacho was offside before he scored what he thought was a dramatic late winner.

It was a brilliant high-IQ play that sought widespread praise post-match. Much has been made of the Brazillian international being left out of the starting lineup in the first games of the season, and based on his showing against United alone, the outrage was justified.

He offers a solidity not replicated anywhere else in the squad, especially when paired with the Rolls Royce Frenchman.

2. Fabio Vieira

The Portuguese midfielder had an up-and-down season during his first at Arsenal. This year, he has hit another level. The intensity, decisiveness and overall air of confidence have reached new heights, as seen in his two appearances off the bench.

Against Fulham, Viera came on, won a penalty and provided a superb assist for Eddie Nketiah. Against Manchester United, he almost did the same, setting up Jesus’ dagger by playing an excellent ball in stride for the striker to latch onto.

With Havertz’s struggles and unfortunate confidence issues, it may be best to swap the two players, allowing the German to integrate into the squad in a more protected way – perhaps mirroring the path of Vieira
