2. Trossard continues to make things happen
While the Gunners may lose Gabriel Martinelli before the start of their Champions League campaign, his backup always finds a way to make things happen when called upon.
Martinelli had a disallowed goal in the first half and was injured during the sequence. Hopefully, it isn’t too bad as he was very active for the first 25 minutes. However, Trossard provided the same quality and eventually netted the goal that put the Gunners up 1-0. His sublime strike proved to be the winner.
The Gunners have had a tumultuous time with injuries to start the campaign, so hopefully, Martinelli’s injury is minor. Still, Trossard will be up to the task while Gabi is sidelined.

1. The Gunners are an established Premier League giant again

The Gunners surprised a lot of sides last season with their tactics and formations which meant scoring was a lot easier to come by. Now, teams are playing deeper and making it more difficult for the Gunners to score goals. That may feel like a new thing to a side that is used to playing fluid football with pace.

For much of Sunday’s match, Arsenal controlled possession without creating many high-quality chances and that is because Everton were not interested in having an open match. The best teams in Europe, however, find a way to create just one or two moments that transform one point into three.

Manchester City has gotten this treatment for years and they continued to score at will, and it’ll take time for Arsenal to evolve into a side boasting such proficiency.

3. Declan Rice was worth every penny

In the first five matches of the season, Declan Rice has <a title="Arsenal no longer need to fear Thomas Partey’s absence – Declan Rice is here" href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/09/19/3-takeaways-arsenal-victory-goodison-park/2/"https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/09/05/arsenal-no-longer-fear-thomas-parteys-absence/" rel="">probably been Arsenal’s best player.

The English international has been all over the midfield; in the build-up, defending, and even scoring a goal. He is the anchor of Arteta’s midfield and Sunday was no different. Everton were defending most of the match, and any chance they had trying to break was contained by Rice, who relentlessly recovered possession in the middle of the park.

The money in football is astounding, but all things considered, Arsenal paid the price and brought in one of the best midfielders in the world. Rice is exactly who we thought he was: a superstar.
<!—pageview_candidate—>">
