Arsenal vs Tottenham Player Ratings

10-Man Arsenal and fellow title challengers Tottenham played to an incredible 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane. Here are Pain In the Arsenal’s Player Ratings.

Arsenal grabbed an early lead against against their hated rivals through a beautiful flick from Aaron Ramsey. Going into half time, it was all optimism. However, a second and equally stupid yellow card for Francis Coquelin in the 55th gave way to two quick goals from Tottenham.

But Alexis wouldn’t let it stand at that, as he equalized late on. A hard-fought point for Arsenal, two points dropped for Tottenham. Also, a huge gift for Leicester.

Here are the Arsenal player ratings:

DAVID OSPINA

GK, Arsenal FC

7.7

Had a lot of work to do and he did it magnificently. Was helpless on the two goals. Kane’s was unreal and Alderweireld’s was a product of that zonal marking. Still looks so nervous in goal, making some skiddish reactions, but he was always ready to make a clutch save and that’s what matters. Definitely deserves massive credit for the show he put on today.

HECTOR BELLERIN

RB, Arsenal FC

8.0

MAN OF THE MATCH. Fantastic day for Bellerin. Very solid defensively and picked out the pass that found Ramsey, who found the goal. He would notch the second assist as well in a performance that will surely go down as one of his best. Very solid from Bellerin, especially considering that Ramsey was not exactly helping him out much on the right flank.

PER MERTESACKER

CB, Arsenal FC

6.3

Mertesacker is getting incredibly enigmatic. He switched off at times today, but at times his timing was impeccable. Very little consistency to be found in our captain. That’s not a good trait to have.

GABRIEL PAULISTA

CB, Arsenal FC

6.7

Looked a lot better than he has, except for that fantastic clearance that almost beat Ospina to the top corner. He and Mertesacker make me incredibly nervous. All the time.

KIERAN GIBBS

LB, Arsenal FC

7.0

Great showing from the Englishman. Finally got a start in an important game and it was an impressive showing. Got forward incredibly well, showcasing his pace and defend with zeal. Frustrated Kyle Walker on numerous charges forward.

MOHAMED ELNENY

MID, Arsenal FC

6.8

This is why Elneny was purchased. He was not flashy, he was not particularly unstoppable, but he was in control. He didn’t give the ball away, he didn’t make glaring mistakes. He just did his job. Strange that we have to celebrate that.

FRANCIS COQUELIN

MID, Arsenal FC

4.3

I have no qualms giving Coquelin the lowest rating since Mertesacker’s 0.9 against Chelsea. Coquelin had two completely ridiculous challenges. Both accounted for a yellow card and got him sent off in the 55th minute with Arsenal up 1-0. What could be worse? Immediately Tottenham countered and took the lead. Horrible, horrible day for Coquelin.

MESUT OZIL

MID, Arsenal FC

5.8

Speaking of horrible days, where was Mesut Ozil? He failed to create a single chance for the first time this Premier League season (it also happened against Bayern Munich in Germany). In big games like this, you need your big names showing up. I was not even sure Ozil was on the pitch.
only dispossessed once. How’s that for improvement?

Gets bonus points for pushing Lamela. Someone had to do it.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ

MID, Arsenal FC

7.4

Alexis tries so, so hard to make a difference and it was wonderful to finally see it come off. His goal saved the day, which should get the little Chilean going again. Being the hero has a way of doing that. Was also only dispossessed once. How’s that for improvement?

Gets bonus points for pushing Lamela. Someone had to do it.

AARON RAMSEY

MID, Arsenal FC

6.0

Just a nice, nondescript 6.0. The goal was beautiful and something out of a fairy tale. But the rest of the game surrounding it was, well, a bit rough. Was dispossessed seven times. Gave the ball away ridiculously, once was in Arsenal’s goal box. He then proceeded to not fight to get the ball back. Absolutely must learn how to main tain the ball.

DANNY WELBECK

MID, Arsenal FC

6.2

A bit of a mixed bag for Welbeck. Definitely provided a very useful asset going forward and was the first architect of the Ramsey goal. But he provided very little threat on goal himself and gave the ball away a little too easily. Likely a bit nervy given the start up front.

OLIVIER GIROUD

ST, Arsenal FC

6.0

Came on to give Arsenal some aerial help but never received any sort of service.

MATHIEU FLAMINI

MID, Arsenal FC

6.1

Came on for Danny Welbeck, relieving Ramsey of sole holding midfield duties. Did not give away a penalty with his first touch. Good day.

JOEL CAMPBELL

MID, Arsenal FC

6.0

Really wanted to give him a 10.o just for being himself. Campbell was the best player against Swansea, was taken off early, and was given five minutes of play against Tottenham. It is injustice, but oh well.
