Arsenal Predicted Starters To Face Swansea City

Having dropped points at Manchester United, Arsenal must make up for it with a win over Swansea City. Can they take all 3 points to stay in the title race?

Prior to last Sunday, it seemed as though Arsenal had all the right cards in place to claim their first victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford for the first time in ten years. Yes, it was what supposed to happen, but yet again, Arsenal failed to beat United away, and thus, suffered a crucial setback in the race for the Premier League title.

It was a rather peculiar loss given that, man-for-man, the Gunner’s lineup was far superior to that of United’s. And still, Arsenal fell to a makeshift United team. But, in a league with many twists and turns still to come in this season, Arsenal cannot afford to dwell on the past. In their path lies Swansea, who will visit the Emirates on Wednesday.

The North Londoners will have to put their missed chances behind them as they look to secure three crucial points, but it is easier said than done. Swansea are unbeaten in three consecutive visits to the Emirates, and they haven’t won a single game in their last four, so they are due a win.

Swansea are a streaky team and tough to beat, but for Arsenal, there are no alternatives to winning here. Again, this is a must win game, and with Leicester dropping points against West Brom this week, Arsenal must capitalize by taking maximum points at home tomorrow.

Here is the Arsenal team that will be tasked with trying to achieve just that.

Petr Cech will undoubtedly be in goal against Swansea tomorrow, and he will make the stops to give Arsenal a chance to win it. However, you have to think about whether or not his teammates on the pitch will let him down by not getting the job done at the other end of the pitch, like they did at United.

Hector Bellerin didn’t have the best game against United, he got turned way too often by Memphis Depay. It’s not often that I can say Bellerin was subpar, but I’m confident he’ll bounce back against Swansea.

I saw the light on Sunday. Per Mertesacker is under appreciated in this squad, simply due to the fact that he makes up for his lack of pace with his excellent footballing brain. Gabriel had a nightmare against United, so Mertesacker is more likely to be in the squad tomorrow.

Too reliable to leave out. Laurent Koscielny is a picture of consistency even though his play wasn’t up to his usual standards against United. He will find his way again against Swansea.

Probably one of the only players that came out of the United game unscathed. Nacho Monreal starts this game for me, Kieran Gibbs just isn’t anywhere near his level yet.

Francis Coquelin, like Gabriel, had a shocker of a performance against United when he needed to be solid. However, he doesn’t deserve to be dropped after just one bad performance.

I contemplated leaving Aaron Ramsey out of my starting XI, but he is such a hot and cold player, and you never know what you are going to get out of him. So, I’m banking on him finding his form circa again in this game.

There is no doubt that there needs to be a shakeup in the lineup, and Joel Campbell is the breath of fresh air that Arsenal need. Campbell always seems to be inspired when he gets a chance in the squad, so hopefully he will be able to inject some life into this Arsenal team with his inclusion.

Danny Welbeck was one of the bright spots against United, scoring again against his former team. These days, it seems as though Welbeck is the only player putting in a noticeable effort. His attitude is exactly what Arsenal need to assert in tomorrow’s match.

Mesut Ozil didn’t have the best game against United, but still managed to record a goal and an assist. He is still the best player on the pitch on his day, and he is oftentimes the difference between Arsenal winning or losing. He has a big part to play in Arsenal’s midfield against Swansea.

The Frenchman has cooled a bit in the goalscoring department, but Arsenal desperately need to start scoring again. Olivier Giroud needs to get going again, or Arsenal will struggle to win games with such a huge lack of offense. I trust him to do that more that Theo Walcott as of right now, so he gets the start for me over the Englishman.
