Arsenal started the Premier League season with a massive 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Selhurst Park is a very tough place to play, especially under the lights as Arsenal learned in their loss there last season.

3 positives and negatives from Arsenal’s win over Crystal Palace

There were way more than three positives in this match but here are my top 3, paired with my 3 negatives.

Positive #1: Aaron Ramsdale

My Man of the Match. He was absolutely phenomenal today as he returned to his early season form from 2021/22.

His save to deny Eberechi Eze one-vs-one was the standout moment as he preserved Arsenal’s slender lead in the second half. His reflexes were quick throughout, too.

Ramsdale’s looking very deserving of his new number 1 shirt, and I’m pumped to watch him keep performing this season.

Negative #1: Sloppiness

Palace were unable to deliver, but there were a few shaky moments for Arsenal that were typically created by their own errors.

Individual errors have been a thorn in Arsenal’s side for years and so it was a bit worrying to see the ball given away cheaply in moments.

Ultimately it was a pretty clean game by the Gunners, keeping the clean sheet, but it’s something to clean up as the season goes on.
